My current “View from the Porch”
Can you identify this edifice?
Update:
Wow! Miguel from GunfreeZone.net hat the right answer in just minutes after I posted this picture.
Zacatecas is an absolute gem; steeped in history, culture and tradition. Founded in 1549 during the Spanish Conquest and known for its production of Silver, Copper, and even some Gold, Zacatecas still retains the architectural splendor and even the public events known in a bygone age.
Hotel Notes (because I sleep around): The luxury hotel Quinta Real embodies some historic charm as this property is built around a ring that previously hosted matodors. The Hotel Santa Rita boasts modernity within a historic facade. More will be known (and possibly reported) about the Hotel Don Miguel tomorrow.
There are tours of the historic city site from Thursday though Saturday in Open Top buses. A Gondola ride spans between the Hotel Bosque for ariel scenery.
The streets which can be both steep and narrow and paved with native stone, are host to celebratory events such as the Donkey Line that was witnessed last night. Evidently, a donkey laden with Tequila-filled saddle bags (another product of the area) , followed by a crowd, followed by a Mariachi band winds its way through the streets and it’s free Tequila to everyone it passes (and everyone who follows).
Yea, it was a bit noisy at 2:00 AM. But, it was a good kind of noisy.
Zacatecas. Cool place.
