SLOGAN: Officially, it’s The Magic City, I think. The Slogan for Birmingham is under much discussion, I hope I can find that article I read from the free newspaper.

EDUCATION: Three universities, three colleges, four junior colleges, three technical schools, three religious training schools, four business and 276 public schools.
GOVERNMENT: Birmingham, the county seat, is one of 33 separately incorporated municipalities in Jefferson County. The City has a mayor/council form of government with a general fund annual budget of approximately $298 million for fiscal year 2003.
RESTAURANTS: There are more than 500 restaurants in the Birmingham area. This number includes full service restaurants, cafeterias, fast food outlets and hotel and motel establishments.
CHURCHES: The Birmingham metropolitan area has over 1,300 churches, and church membership is held by approximately 60 percent of the population

NEWS: The BATF with significant local support raided “The Free Militia” last month, arresting five. Charges for manufacture, consiracy to manufacture destructive devices, manufacturing firearms and possession of (items) not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record carry penalties up $250,000 and 10 years were levied against five, guilty verdicts were handed down today against four who denied “being militia.”

New city drought restrictions: Every time you water your lawn, Animal Control kills a kitten.
TRAVEL NOTES: The last guest (or the cleaning crew) left a blunt under the coffer maker at the hotel. Sort of redefines the “full service” hotel, doncha think?

There’s an interesting listing for 2,727 acres. But $3,538.69 per acre needs some shaving to be right for me.
Anyone have 800+ acres around here for $500/ac. or less?

Update: I see 104 acres, with $50,000 in timber for $199K. That looks like a better deal. Hmmm.
