Sometimes air travel has its disruptions – even on a bright and sunny day. My flight connection yesterday afternoon was to link through New York’s Kennedy airport, but as soon as our plane left the gate, the pilot shut down the engines and announced that JFK had a ground hold in effect while a ‘certain individual’ arrived for a New York fund-raiser aboard Air Force One.
What was to be a one-hour flight then turned into 4-1/2 hours trapped on the tarmac aboard a small plane where tempers increased with the temperatures on board.
Once we returned to the Terminal for refueling, it was too late to make any of the alternative connecting flights through either Kennedy or LaGuardia. My next move was to get off the plane and book a new flight via Dallas to my original destination.
Easy, peasy! A mere 23 hours after I boarded by original flight, I touched down.
America may have lost a full day of productivity from all its Eastern Seaboard traveling workers, but hey. Fundraisers are more important than the economy, right?
Right?
