April 15, 2006 Update
Delivery day approaches!
I’ve ordered the NobuckL sling – an authentic copy of the original 1 1/4″ Kerr sling known as the M3 or M1914. Khaki web construction with unmarked metal hardware. OAL 43″. for the Auto Ordnance Thompson M1SB / M1A1. If you don’t know about them, Numrich (e-gunparts.com) is a valuable resource for parts & repair information.
Meanwhile, the time-line since the 2006 Buy a Gun Day purchase still stretches on!
- The actual purchase was made in January of 2006.
- The manufacturing backlog was cleared in May 2006.
The Form 4 signatures were completed in September 2006. - And now the BATFE processing period has begun. (Supposedly it’s only going to be 30 – 45 days from October 5, 2006).
Just imagine how long it might have taken if there were an actual infringement of our gun rights; if somehow a myriad of regulations and licensing requirements were enacted!
Why, such a thing would seem downright unconstitutional; ‘the most unheard of thing I’ve ever heard of’.
My original BAG Day post is here.
This is a semi-auto rifle by the way. It’s just got a barrel length that’s shorter than normal, hence the NFA registration, paperwork, background checks, additional tax requirements, and delays that one would expect in order to avoid the sort of “infringement” that the Constitution of the United States expressly prohibits.
Update:
11/24/2006: 51 Days and counting. We’re beyond the 45 day plan – at least it’s not as late as my Federal Tax refund. (7 months 8 days 22 Hours 23 Minutes 29 Seconds since the filing date as of right now.)
