Ruger Mini-14 Tactical
A good day at the range with the new Mini-14 Tactical model from Ruger.
It arrived last week, together with a Gemtech SHIELD suppressor and a Gemtech Quick-Mount Flash hider.
All were assembled and carried to my favorite Cabella’s store in Fort Worth for some optics. A Trijicon 4×32 (TA31F) was installed.
Thanks to some bore-sighting assistance at the Alpine shooting range in Ft Worth, I zeroed the sights at 30 yards (using to 300 meter Reticle markings). I then moved to the 100 yard range. The 30 yard zero was confirmed at 100 yards and 20 more rounds were sent down range.
Shot groups varied from three fingers to width-of-hand at 100 yards. Close enough.
With a 100 yard zero, the Trijicon TA31F rifle sight has holdover indicators for 200 to 800 meters. The sight has measurement bars that indicate a standard silhouette target with 19″ shoulder width at various ranges for distance measurement.
Target acquisition is intuitive and fast with this optic and rifle combination.
The next accessories to arrive are the Here’s a pic with the Harris #14 bipod mount and a Harris Benchrest 6-9″ Bi-Pod.
This is now my newest favorite rifle, until the fully automatic AC-556 transfer is approved by the ATF.
