HKs, Glocks, Smith & Wessons, and others were rented and many a round was sent downrange.
The range itself was well-maintained – with good lighting and ventilation. I give Ready, Aim, Fire and “A” grade.
Bitter and Sebastian were both able to meet us and put a few magazines through the MP5.

As Sebastian noted in his post, the MP5 was acting a bit finicky. Sometimes running a complete mag – other times, stalling after two-rounds; dimpling primers but not firing 25 out of 300 rounds. 300 rounds of Winchester white box and 40 rounds of Remington ammunition were used. Winchester dimpled more, Remington tended to stove-pipe. The magazine lock-up was a bit shaky – but this being the first time I’ve fired one of these, I can’t say if that is normal or not. (Pro-tip: for best results hold the hand grip and not the magazine with your left hand for best results.)
One of us couldn’t resist the attraction of the sales counter and took home a shiny new Gen-4 Glock in 9mm.
After sweeping up our spent brass and folding up our targets, we concluded that a good time was had by all.
Thanks to all those who were able to make it an enjoyable evening.
P.S. Bitter says that details about gunblogger participation at this year’s NRA Convention in Charlotte, NC is coming soon. Stay tuned for more details to come!
