This is the gun used by Dallas Police Department Officer Sgt. Gerald Hill in the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald in the Texas Theater in the hours following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Hill was the lead officer in the initial investigation of the Texas Schoolbook Depository building uncovering the sniper’s perch, spent rifle casings and the rifle that was used in the crime. He then responded to a report of a suspicious character and possible suspect seen entering the Texas Theater. Hill then proceeded to the theater with a support team and managed to subdue and arrest Oswald after a brief, but dangerous struggle. At the end of the day, he acted as spokesman for the police department at a national press conference where Oswald was identified as the lead suspect and his apprehension reported.
