Driver’s Education Day 4: First Contact

---

After the near-incident involving severe freeway braking (see Unscathed – Driver’s Education: Day 3), Driver #2 preferred to stay on surface streets.

Except for a one-mile stretch of highway traffic, Day 4 was to be on surface roads, boulevards and wide thoroughfares.

The one-mile highway section however, turned out to be one-mile too many.

Entering the highway, Driver #2 held the car a bit too close to his left – only to be joined by an overtaking vehicle which was a bit too far to his right.

Result?  First Contact – at about 55 mph!

The effect of the ‘tap’ measured 1/2″ x 2/16″ (13 mm x 3 mm).

(For some perspective, see section to the right on larger picture after the word “FIAT”. Click either picture to embiggify).

The Bonus Driver’s Education Word for today was ADRENALINE!!!
