Cowboy Fast Draw shooting is performed with real guns and cartridges that are loaded with wax projectiles and shotgun primers – no other propellant.  The rounds fired will not even penetrate the canvas material enclosing the shooting area.

I’d never tried it before until today, but now that I have, I have to say, “it’s pretty cool”.

The PA announces, “Shooter on the line … Shooter set!” and then a light appears on the target and it’s time to draw and fire.

Cal shows us how it’s done with a 438 millisecond draw in the video above.

(My best draw was 589 milliseconds).

Overall Results from the Gunbloggers were:

First Place: Derek at The Packing Rat

Second Place: The Analog Kid, AKA Phil at Random Nuclear Strikes.

Third Place: Me!

Fun stuff.
