I have 5 granddaughters in school, and am retired. I will personally keep everyone of them home, pick them up, take them wherever, but they aren’t going to be put in a position of being brainwashed without rebuttal.

I’m having a difficult time convincing the wife that that is exactly what is necessary to do.
My preferred outcome is convincing the Superintendent of all the area schools not to go along with this political interruption of the school-day. Today, or any day in the future.
They are getting LOTS of calls. So, there is hope they can be convinced.

I have called my 3 kids’ school, asked if they will be airing the Presidents address and if so said that I would like to “Opt Out” my children.
I have done this with the principal and the home room teachers.
But, on the 8th, my kids will catch the Obama Flu and will not be present.
Thank God my children are not in school! Yes, I said God, not Obama! I’m beginning to wonder to whom Obama prays.
I attended a welcome back to school seminar at my kids Elementary School last evening. I asked the Principle about the Obama video and the directives sent by the board of education.
He said the has just today gotten a little bit of word with no details… he was not happy about this event just being jammed into the school (a very good school) and he and his staff were going to work on getting this issue straitened out. He said the county has not approved this political incursion into these young peoples education and has vowed to make sure each parent has a right to deny or approved their children’s participation.
Some discussion from the real educators at the school say these children are just now learning about about the constitution, American history, branches of government and responsibilities of elected officials. It takes that for them to learn how to form their own opinions on whether to like/support the politics of politicians.
Additionally, the county that these schools are in, are looking at the possibility of rejecting his-ill-planned, ill-advised, agenda.
That will be interesting to see if individual counties or districts can tell Obama to: keep his nose in Washington and persuade the children in congress to try to act professionally and be patriotic.
I guarantee if this President makes any moves to indoctrinate our young children into his extreme ideologies there will be a back-lash against this President that will make the health care town hall seem incidental.
If Obama insists on pushing his agenda into our public schools where even the Principle and teachers think its weird besides not briefed of any plans… there are going to be millions of kids who wont be in school on the 8th… The administration can add parents to the list of police, doctors, seniors, average Americans at town halls, etc that are thinking (seriously) of running him out of Washington on a rail.

Hi!
Please stop complaining about Obama’s address to the nation’s students.
Instead, please, please, please, tell all your readers to pull their kids out of their local school. If they are motivated at all, then their child will probably have a better education at home, than they will get at their local school.
I encourage ALL parents who are upset/worried/feeling uneasy about the President of the United States talking to their children to immediately pull your kids out of school.
It is legal, and in places like Wisconsin, where I live, VERY easy to pull your kids out and homeschool them
