Deep Scaling – a dental cleaning procedure that uses ultrasound to remove tarter below the gum line is frequently offered with multiple visits (one per quadrant) and various pain killers being administered in the process.
Imagine my surprise when my ‘Deep Scaler’ asked if I wanted the ‘pain killer’ shots.
“Nope”, said I, “Do all four quadrants today and skip the pain killer stuff.”
It was a long two hours.
I told her that the scaling procedure was much easier than my last cavity filling.
When my other dentist offered to drill and fill the cavity without the Novocain shot, I said, “Go for it.”
I don’t like leaving an establishment in an impaired state, unless it’s a bar.
I’m a wuss when it comes to my teeth, I want novocaine AND gas…
I’ll take the gas. It’s not that there isn’t any pain, but that you just don’t care.
I almost cried just reading this. The fact that I don’t drink Scotch before getting a filing is amazing in itself.
