This is the final round of the e-Postal Matches for 2008. (With thanks to Mr. Completely for the chance to host again).
In honor of Kim du Toit ‘s many years of fine bloggery, this contest and its target are dedicated to Kim and Connie.
The target itself is based on an expression I had never heard until Kim used it one day at the range to describe accurate shot placement, "All Eye, No Lash ".

Rules:
10 Targets. Ten shots. [Clarification from comment question - Ed ]
Unlike the other e-Postal Matches – this can be fired in any method or position. Bench rest supported, aimed fire is OK. There are no time limits.
Also unlike other matches, there is a distance multiplier: shooting distance divided by 10.
Shooting at the minimum distance of 10 yards, the multiplier is 1.0; at 50 yards, the multiplier is 5; at 100 yards it would be 10, etc.
Since the distance is not limited, rifles are OK in this contest (please note rifle or pistol in Gun / Ammo description area of your target).
There are four classes:
- Rimfire with iron sights.
- Rimfire with optics or long barrels( > 6")
- Centerfire with iron sights
- Centerfire with optics or long barrels( > 6"
Score your target & email a scanned copy to USCitizen@Well-RegulatedMilitia.org

Have a great day at the range!

I take it is one shot per target? right?
You are correct – I’ve added that to the rules as a clarification.
Thanks
Well done! This is a great looking match. If we keep our weather next week I’ll take a bunch of stuff from the safe out to the desert and see how I do… hmmm, what’s the multiplier on a 250yd sheet?
That’s what I’m thinking too … 250 yards is 25X.
If I catch it on a day when the tremor isn’t too bad I might try to push it out even farther. It’s going to rain here tomorrow… guess I’d better get some reload bench time. Big pot of coffee, a couple of classical cd’s, and a bag of empty brass. Might be a good change from all the time I’ve spent watching the train wreck this week.
I sure hope you can join in! I’m hoping to take some extra targets to the Gunblogger Rendezvous in Reno to shoot next Saturday with the Barrett M82A1.
Maybe just one hit at 1,000 yards will be the winner!
We’ll see.
I can’t get the target to open – whether attempting to download from here or attempting to save and then print. Is anyone else having difficulty?
Tess:
Try a Right Click on the mouse and Save the file.
Or if you just click it it will be displayed with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Once you see it, you can then save a copy.
I’ll email a copy if that doesn’t work for you.
Anyone else having trouble? Let me know.
Have you considered a small adjustment to the classes you currently have? As I see it, any firearm with optics and any firearm with longer than a 6″ barrel are in the same group. This makes it very unlikely to place well if you use a rifle with iron sights or a pistol with optics.
Maybe three classes for each ammo type (i.e. iron sights / optics or >6″ barrel / optics and >6″ barrel)?
Laughing Dog:
I can see how this handicaps pistols with optics versus iron-sighted rifles at shorter ranges.
Perhaps a solution could be to leave the classes as they are and tabulate pistol and rifle results separately?

I can get it t open, but it won’t print.
I have saved a copy, and it won’t print – and also tried to print it after opening it. No joy either way.
Guess I’ll need an E-mail copy too.
Thanks

Maybe it’s staring me in the face, and I just don’t see it (wouldn’t be the first time by a long shot), but when is the end date for this?
Good question LD:
Usually these run through the end of the month so let’s call it midnight Pacific Time on Sunday November 2.
There may be an interim (half-time score announcement?) during the GunBlogger Rendezvous from Reno on the 10th.
