Oleg Volk writes in Going to Court :
In December 2002, I founded The High Road forum dedicated to the advancement of responsible gun ownership. Recently, it was discovered that in 2006, the volunteer forum systems administrator, Derek Zeanah of Statesboro, Georgia, changed domain registration to himself. After he was confronted, Derek locked out all other staff from accessing the Web server administration and would not share even backup copies of its content. After failed attempts to peacefully resolve the dispute, it has become necessary for me to initiate a lawsuit against Derek Zeanah for the return of thehighroad.org domain name and the forum database.
I am seeking and would greatly appreciate donations to help with the cost of litigation. You can use Paypal (olegvolk@gmail.com ) or send a check to:

You can also aid me by re-posting this appeal on your blog, forum or web site. My legal position is already endorsed by almost all of The High Road staff as well as Rich Lucibella, the founder of The Firing Line forum.
Help out if you can.

I hate to say this, it’s going to sound really dipshit, and it’s not meant to but damn…
I have had 2 forums, I had one that was fairly big a while back and I had 5 or 6 moderators, and I pretty much trusted them too, but I never trusted ANY of em enough to give em the keys to the thing and full permission to drive…
Wow, I wish the guy serious luck on his litigation but he was way too trusting in a world where you just can’t do that, blogs, unless they are *team blogs*, are pretty well a straight up deal but forums can be so cut throat it’s unreal…
May be so, Fred.
But if a guy turns out have stolen the keys to another guys place – the court may be the best place to sort it out.
It looks like the “polite discussion” route is a dead end.
Well, maybe he *stole* it, but that would be like someone hitting your Admin Panel and stealing your blog, not bashing the guy but he had to have given this guy way too much stroke, otherwise, he’d have never had a shot at taking it ALL and banning the guy that originally owned it…
It’s a strange set of circumstances, to say the least…
If he wasn’t handed the keys, then he must have hacked in, and if that’s the case, well, shoot the bastard, I hate people that do that sort of thing…
Ya know, I trust my wife with everything I have, she had to take care of our personal business for many years while I was off on this and that, but hell, even SHE can’t get into the control panel of my blog…
I wish him well in any case, it’s hell to work your ass off to build something and have some chump try and take it…
Oleg’s a great guy. I’ll do everything I can to help him.
Downtime
I’ll have the board up tomorrow, with details about this outage. Thanks for your patience.
